Nanchong High School boasts a long, rich history fullof cultural heritage that is thoroughly entrenched with traditional values, adevoted staff, exemplary teaching facilities, and a brilliant academicexhibition. During this progressive era of modern education, the school adheresto the motto: "advocating honesty and courage while pursuing excellenceand brilliance," as well as a quote by Mr. Zhang Lan: "By firstaccepting responsibility for people, we reap the benefits of success with thepeople." Our school is built on the pillars of “comprehensive education, overall harmony,pragmatic innovation and the pursuit of excellence.” This has led to our uniquetheory of education and tradition which is based on honor, etiquette, gratitudeand generosity. We are committed to reform, innovation and diligence in theface of difficulty; a tradition that has led our school down a path ofunrefuted success as one of the best. The school originated in 1927 through theguidance of the legendary revolutionary, linguist, and literary scholar WuYuzhang. The school later merged with Zhang Lan’s Jianhua Middle School, in1950, and was formally given the title Nanchong High School of Sichuan by theSichuan People's Government in 1952.
The school has two campuses, one in Shunqing Districtand the other in Jialing District, with a combined area of 350 acres. The twocampuses, which are equipped with provincially top-tier modern school-runningfacilities and professional teaching staff, possess a beautiful schoolenvironment, complete and full-functioning facilities. At present, there aremore than 9000 students, 531 faculty members, 9 special-grade teachers, 168senior teachers, 209 intermediate teachers, 8 provincial teaching masters, 35provincial backbone teachers and over 40 teachers who won national honor inNanchogn High School. Teachers’ education background of reaching the standard reaches100 percent—possessing excellent professional skills. Teachers of all subjectsare fully staffed and are of rational structure. Through the “Expert-trainingProject” and “Youth Teacher Project” in combination with activities such asclassroom teaching competitions, master-apprentice pairs and education andresearch forums, Nanchong High School requires teachers to implementquality-oriented education and new curriculum concepts into the classroom.Since 1997, youth teachers of all subjects representing Nanchong High Schoolwon the first prize of both the junior and senior middle school teams inprovincial teaching competitions.

Our schools havebeautiful campus grounds, which are always beautifully landscaped and boast ofan ornately sophisticated design.Our facilities include: a regulation sized track and fieldstadium, digital labs, reading rooms, an internet cafe, a swimming pool, asoccer field, an indoor basketball court, a tennis court, a fitness center, apsychological wellness facility, several dance studios, a pictorial art studio,a choir hall, a campus history museum, and the main reception hall; everyclassroom in the school is equipped with modern teaching facilities; studentdormitories are sensibly laid out with utilitarian facilities;our rigorously operated cafeteriaoffers a wide range of foods at judicious prices. As a result, it is difficultfor students to ever see any want or need of ever stepping foot off of schoolgrounds—affording students the opportunity to live and learn comfortably oncampus. Meanwhile, in order to better serve and manage students, the schoolpromotes the continuous improvement of education quality through quantitativeassessment of class work and dormitory management, offering a logistics servicecenter, regulating online behavior of students, continually optimizingclassroom management, encouraging reasonable competition, and activelystrengthening students' dormitory management by promoting standardized dormbuilding efforts for the students to create a good living and learningenvironment, thus creating a "cultural campus."
Since 1993,Nanchong High School has been ranked No. 1 in the assessment ofhigh school teaching quality in Nanchong. Within less than ten years, more than140 students were admitted into Tsinghua University and Peking University. In2014, students in Nanchong High School achieved excellence as a result of theschool’s effort of making innovations. Nanchong High School focused oncollective lesson preparation and made stricter rules about teaching, such asfurthering research on teaching and continuing the reform of teaching, thusforming the large scale of teaching and research. This helped the schoolimprove the teaching quality and win championships in 22 consecutive years in CollegeEntrance Examination in Nanchong, and ensured its rank among top three highschools in Sichuan Province. Nanchong High School has topped other high schoolsin northeast Sichuan for many years, with the top science score of the CollegeEntrance Examination in Nanchong being a student of Nanchong High School. 934students achieved the cutoff score of key university, making up almost half ofthe number of students who achieved the line. The number of students whoachieved the undergraduate cutoff score and the enrollment rate all ranked topthree in Sichuan Province, and No. 1 in northeast Sichuan Province. Sevenscience students were on the list of top ten scorers, and sixteen students werelisted as top twenty in Nanchong. Liu Ruoyang, the top science scorer achieved677 and was on the list of top ten in Sichuan Province. In the field of arts,students of Nanchong High School also made great achievements. Four studentswere on the list of top ten arts students and ten were on the list of toptwenty. Besides, eleven students were top scores in one single subject,fourteen students achieved high scores in one single subject and were includedinto the 10,000 highest scorers in one single subject, who could be allowed tohave the opportunity of being admitted into universities of higher score line.
Thesegreat achievements ensured the school’s top three rank in Sichuan Province, helpedthe school win the first prize in the general assessment of teaching andspecial contribution award in Nanchong, and the honor of Excellent High School.In 2014, many students in Nanchong High School won prizes in severalcompetitions. Jiang Ningjun, Chen Yihong, Zhu Hongyu, Li Qike, Gou Minghao,Chen Hongyu, Quan Qianshan, Qing Jingkang, Li Yu tong, Jiang Peishu won the firstprizes in Maths, Physics and Biology competitions in Sichuan Province. Li Qikewas invited to join in winter campus as the first prize in the Olympic Mathcompetition in western China.
Following the trend of promoting educationfor all-around development and new curriculum reform, Nanchong High Schoolgathers outstanding, talented teenagers in northeast Sichuan, insisting on theidea of educating students in an all-around way and developing the school inaccordance with the students’development, paying special attention to the combination of competitivesports and the school’s physical education. Nanchong High School has set upthe National Teenager Gymnastics Club. In 2009, 2010 and 2011, the schoolsucceeded in undertaking the National middle school track and FieldChampionship, Sichuan radio direction finding Championship, National StudentDirected cross-country Championship, and received good review from theparticipants, Education Department of Sichuan Province, and leaders of studentssports federations of Education Department. The basketball team, shooting team,radio direction finding team and directional cross-country team come out amongthe best in Sichuan Province. The athletics team has won the championship in fourconsecutive years. Cao Yifei, a member of the shooting team, won the first goldmedal in the 2010 Shooting World Cup in Australia. Guo Ni won three golds and abronze medals in the Malaysia FESPIC. Radio direction finding team won the gold medal in the world middle schoolradio direction finder Championship in Belgium. Nanchong High School is an advancedmember of track and field of Chinese middle school Sports Federation, and is awardedthe title of "Beijing 2008 Olympic education model school" by theBeijing Olympic Organizing Committee, Ministry of education, the people's governmentof Sichuan Province. In 2013, Nanchong High School was formally named the first "Sichuan Province sunshine sportsdemonstration school" and hosted the Junior Badminton Championships inSichuan Province and Sichuan Province high school men's basketball, women'ssoccer and Badminton Championships. PE teachers of Nanchong High School wonthe first prize in all teaching competieions in Nanchong. Athletics, shooting,basketball, soccer, volleyball, table tennis, sports dance, and so on keep theleadership in Sichuan Province, with three students becoming first classathletes and two students won the national championship.
NanchongHigh School is determined by the Provincial Education Department of Sichuan Provinceas the model demonstration school of New curriculum reform. In recent years,the school focuses on "how to adapt to the requirements of the newcurriculum reform", combines teaching and research together, establishesthe idea of researching for teaching, has completed the construction of hardwareand software and training of new curriculum reform, built the first-class mentalhealth center, network observation platform, and digital laboratory. In thepast few years, the school has organized seminars and educational research forumof new curriculum for every subject. More than 100 people have been sent toother schools in China to exchange teaching experience. Teaching competitionshave been held among young teachers who are under five years of teachingexperience to explore the new curriculum reform. In short, through variouschannels, the school helps teachers follow the trend of new curriculum reform,which guarantees the successful implementation of the new curriculum reform inour school. The expert group of the Provincial Educational Department ofSichuan Province spoke highly of our school. A series of reform measures has promotedthe development of school’seducation and scientific research, and has led to fruitful research results, withthe increasing of the project completed and the remarkable progress of the projectbeing researched. The Teaching StrategyResearch on how to Improve Teaching Quality and Efficiency of the 11th Five-Year Plan National Education SciencesPlanning Project was completed and won the first prize in the project ofMinistry of Education. Meanwhile, one of the other three national projects wascompleted and one is being researched. TheMiddle School Classroom Teaching Research under the New Education Quality Conceptwas approved by the 12th five-year plan key project of NationalEducation Science to begin research work, which resulted in the participationof teachers in scientific research on education.
Eighty years ofhistory has brought Nanchong High School outstanding talents and glorious past.In 2002, Nanchong High School was among the first National Demonstration High Schoolin Sichuan Province. In 2009, it was entitled "A hundred best middleschools in China.” In 2010, it successfully became the best civilization unitin Sichuan Province. In 2013, the school became one of the first First DemonstrationHigh Schools. In 2014, it was awarded the Advanced Collectives of the National EducationSystem by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the Ministryof Education.
The school has also been awarded the Advanced Moral EducationCollective of National Primary and Secondary school, Communist Youth LeagueCommittee, Modern Educational Technology Experimental School, outstandingschool for fully implementation of the sports work rule of the school, advancedgrassroots party organizations of Sichuan Province, advanced trade unions inSichuan Province, school spirit demonstration school of Sichuan Province, and healthadvanced unit of Sichuan Province.
Without direct supportsand assistance of leaders at different levels, Nanchong High School cannot gainso many gratifying accomplishments, which is also a result of implementing theParty’s policies for a long time, strengthening cohesion of every aspect, andcollecting all social powers as well as motivating the whole society. In thefuture, Nanchong High School will continue scientific development and adhere tothe correct direction of school management in order to cultivate studentsaccording to the law of education. Our school will also consolidatehigh-quality education results with continuous innovation, thus to constructthe prestigious campus, brand high-quality teachers and students, promote theethics and professional proficiency of teachers.
